Remington, a New York-based gun and ammunition manufacturer, may soon decide to leave the Empire State in response to Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s strict new gun control law. Lawmakers from gun-friendly South Carolina, Michigan, Arizona and Oklahoma are all encouraging Remington to relocate, the local news site Innovation Trail reports. A bipartisan coalition of senators is working on a proposal to strengthen and expand background checks for potential gun purchasers in an attempt to break the partisan gridlock holding up regulations on gun ownership. Members of the group, which includes Republicans Tom Coburn of Oklahoma and Mark Kirk of Illinois and Democrats Charles Schumer of New York and Joe Manchin of West Virginia, declined to discuss specifics of the talks or of a potential bill. OH the blatant hypocrisy of the politicians and those in government in Washington. When they want you to be afraid of civilians with semi-automatic rifles they refer to them as “assault weapons,” but when they want to purchase similar weapons for their people, they refer to them as “personal defense weapons.” This is documented in the latest request for a General Service Administration (GSA) request for proposal (RFP) by the Department of Homeland Security on the Federal Business Opportunities website.

CNN host Piers Morgan’s push for a ban on so-called “assault” weapons has led him to confront a host of gun-rights advocates on his program, including Republican Newt Gingrich and Gun Owners of America’s Larry Pratt, who Morgan actually blasted as “an unbelievably stupid man” for disagreeing with him. The NYPD is testing a new camera system that can see if a person is carrying a concealed gun. By scanning a person’s naturally-emitted radiation, it’s possible to see if something is blocking that radiation (presumably using infrared sensors) it shows up as black on a green body. Read More...

Once semiautomatic “assault” weapons are banned, according to the controversial bill reportedly being offered by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., if a juvenile gets his hands on one, his parents could be held responsible.
