Judge Napolitano Reacts to NY Times Criticism: “Either We Have a 2nd Amendment or We Don’t”

Tuesday, January 15, 2013 | Fox News Insider
The New York Times went after Fox News Channel’s Judge Andrew Napolitano for comments he made regarding the right to bear arms.

In a video posted on GretaWire last week, Napolitano revealed the “dirty little secret” about the Second Amendment, saying, “The Second Amendment was not written to protect your right to shoot deer. It was written to protect your right to shoot tyrants if they take over the government.”

Referencing those comments, Charles Blow wrote in The New York Times, “These extremists make sensible, reasonable gun control hard to discuss, let alone achieve in this country, because they skew the conversations away from common-sense solutions on which both rational gun owners and non-gun owners can agree.”

On Fox and Friends this morning, Napolitano responded, saying, “Look, either we have a Second Amendment or we don’t. The whole purpose of the Constitution was to preserve individual rights, whether it’s speech, travel, privacy or self-defense from the overwhelming passion of the public.”
