Remington, a New York-based gun and ammunition manufacturer, may soon decide to leave the Empire State in response to Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s strict new gun control law. Lawmakers from gun-friendly South Carolina, Michigan, Arizona and Oklahoma are all encouraging Remington to relocate, the local news site Innovation Trail reports. Representatives from all four states have sent letters to Freedom Group, Remington’s owner. Read More...

01/30/2013 02:24 PM
A bipartisan coalition of senators is working on a proposal to strengthen and expand background checks for potential gun purchasers in an attempt to break the partisan gridlock holding up regulations on gun ownership. Members of the group, which includes Republicans Tom Coburn of Oklahoma and Mark Kirk of Illinois and Democrats Charles Schumer of New York and Joe Manchin of West Virginia, declined to discuss specifics of the talks or of a potential bill. Read More...

Obama DHS To Buy 7,000 “Assault, - Personal Defense Weapons”
01/30/2013 09:38 AM
OH the blatant hypocrisy of the politicians and those in government in Washington. When they want you to be afraid of civilians with semi-automatic rifles they refer to them as “assault weapons,” but when they want to purchase similar weapons for their people, they refer to them as “personal defense weapons.” This is documented in the latest request for a General Service Administration (GSA) request for proposal (RFP) by the Department of Homeland Security on the Federal Business Opportunities website.  Read More...
22-year-old educates Piers Morgan on guns
01/29/2013 11:19 AM
CNN host Piers Morgan’s push for a ban on so-called “assault” weapons has led him to confront a host of gun-rights advocates on his program, including Republican Newt Gingrich and Gun Owners of America’s Larry Pratt, who Morgan actually blasted as “an unbelievably stupid man” for disagreeing with him. Which makes the response of a pair of young women on Morgan’s program all the more noteworthy.  Read More...

01/29/2013 10:59 AM
Marsha Blackburn, the Republican congresswoman from Tennessee, is skeptical about President Barack Obama’s claim that he regularly goes skeet shooting at Camp David. In the context of the ongoing gun control debate, Obama asserted in an interview in The New Republic that he goes skeet shooting all the time and thus could appreciate the concerns of hunters and sportsmen about firearms regulations Read More...

01/29/2013 09:52 AM
The NYPD is testing a new camera system that can see if a person is carrying a concealed gun. By scanning a person’s naturally-emitted radiation, it’s possible to see if something is blocking that radiation (presumably using infrared sensors) it shows up as black on a green body. Read More...

01/29/2013 09:40 AM
Gun control proposals put forth by President Barack Obama this month were met by counter-proposals in Louisiana Monday, as a state lawmaker unveiled a statewide campaign to "defend the rights of Louisiana residents to bear arms." The centerpiece of the Defend Louisiana initiative will be multiple pieces of pro-Second Amendment legislation as well as a statewide tour. Read More...
Why not a waiting period for laws?
01/28/2013 07:21 PM
So New York’s stringent new gun-control law bans guns or magazines capable of holding more than seven shots. Everybody’s safer now, except that — in the Gov. Cuomo-led rush to pass the bill — nobody thought to exempt the police, making all those Glocks felonious. T Read More...
Feinstein bill targets parents for owning guns
01/28/2013 10:45 AM
Once semiautomatic “assault” weapons are banned, according to the controversial bill reportedly being offered by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., if a juvenile gets his hands on one, his parents could be held responsible. Writer David Codrea has published a copy of what he says is the proposed bill, S.150, before it has been formally posted on the Library of Congress THOMAS database.  Read More...
